Compliance Testing for the Media - Project

Updated: Nov 25, 2019

With a new series about to begin filming inside a previously abandoned London warehouse, a complete compliance test for all electrical services was required along with any necessary works to guarantee the safety of the production crew and actors.

The project in detail

  • A large engineering team to thoroughly test the large installation

  • Remedial works to bring installation to meet current standards

  • New emergency lighting installation

  • New fire alarm installation

  • Office refurbishment and temporary new power supplies for the rigging team and film crews

AIM was commission to test and bring up to standard a derelict and uninhabited dwelling in a very short space of time. As the installation would soon become inhabited with a large workforce it was paramount that there was a safe and secure environment before filming could commence.

When we first entered and none of the distribution boards had power it quickly become apparent that there was going to be a lot of work needed. We worked with the distribution network operator to repair the incoming three-phase supply which had been long since cut off, work then begun on testing the existing installation and installing new emergency services which included emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.

Once the works had been brought up to current standard we met with the production team to tailor an installation suitable for their film set, which included additional power and lighting points.
